But now with new technological innovations, what pushes its own boundary is how we make the façade more than just a static vertical architectural element. Throughout the history of architecture, the exterior of a building has only been looked at from the aesthetic viewpoint. These façades usually provide not only shading options, but also tend to harness the wind energy as well as the solar energy, helping to maintain the indoor comfort standards. Responding directly to the needs of the occupants of the building, the functions, and the outdoor conditions, such façade systems use the latter to decrease the energy demand of the building to the lowest level possible.
